Taking its name from the “little column” that you can still spot in Kolonaki Square, there’s nothing small about this area’s fashion credentials. It’s being hailed as the centre of the so-called “Greek renaissance” after years of economic hardship in the country. Athens-born designer Mary Katrantzou waxes lyrical about its luxury boutiques (spot her brunching on kagiana, a tomato and feta egg scramble, in Philos cafe when she’s back for a visit). The area is as polished as it gets; bright white manors are decked with neoclassical reliefs and house the likes of Louis Vuitton and Gucci, channelling a classic sense of style befitting Ancient Greece.
