The Four Seasons Megève might not be the only hotel to open in the Alps this winter – there’ also the first ever Hyatt in La Rosière, France, of course, and a new Club Med in Samoëns – but it might just be the swankiest. It’s not just the location: Megève, a chic, incredibly quiet village around an hour from Geneva is still one of the least-crowded, exclusive resorts in the Alps. And nor is it the two-Michelin-star cooking at restaurant Le 1920; or the fact that it has the biggest spa in the region. It’s not the rooms, either, each with their own private balcony. Or the fact the whole thing’s owned by the famous Rothschild family. Nope, what clinches it is the in-house ski valet service which sets up all your gear every morning (think, warmed boots, waxed skis, chocolate muffins). A location on the Mont d’Arbois means quick access to what the editor of Telegraph Ski & Snowboard, Henry Druce, says are some of the most satisfying slopes in the region. “The pistes offer long, wide runs ideally suited for intermediates who don’t want anything too challenging. Or, for more experienced skiers, there are great areas to ski powder.”
