The UAE Korea Film Festival 2019 is hitting the capital at the end of June. It’s the third time that the dedicated festival of Korean film has come to Abu Dhabi and takes place over four days from 26-29 June at Yas Mall Vox Cinemas.
Hosted by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea, there’ll be nine films shown in total, all with English subtitles. It’s the perfect chance to see a Korean classic or discover a new director, at a time when Korean cinema is booming.
The opening film of the festival is the newly released drama film Innocent Witness by Lee Han, with a Q&A afterwards with actor Lee Kyu-hyung and producer Lee Jun-woo. Other films include kids’ animation Underdog and drama Romang, about an elderly couple with dementia.
In a cultural exchange between the two countries and celebrating the UAE’s Year of Tolerance, Nearby Sky, the Emirati drama about a camel owner will also be showing alongside Korean titles to highlight the lives of minority societies.
