Where is home?
Growing up we moved around a bit – but home for me is Florida.
Name a place that most lived up to the hype
Miami has been a big part of my life – some good memories, some bad. But, no doubt, it’s the place where dreams are made.
Which is your favourite city, and why?
Vancouver is always going to have a special place in my heart. I have lost sweat and blood in that city over the years. I have played football there, wrestled there, as well as shot big movies – great place, great people.
Describe your favourite view
When we were shooting Hercules in Hungary my hotel room looked right out into the heart of Budapest, and it’s an incredibly beautiful city.
What’s your favourite hotel?
I stayed at The Hotel Bel-Air in LA while we were filming Ballers – the staff there were always going the extra mile.
Earliest travel memory
Moving to New Zealand as a kid – I still have family connections there. I dream of shooting a movie there one day, too.
Best thing you’ve learnt on a trip
New Zealand really toughened me up, getting my ass kicked all over a rugby field when I was a kid. For somebody who has taken some ass-kickings over his career, it was good preparation.
Best dish you’ve eaten on a trip
When I have cheat days I don’t mess around, I keep it real: so it’s all about pizzas at The Big Cheese in Miami.
I always pack…
We worked out recently that it would be best if we created a travel gym that I could take with me while travelling. It’s like 40,000lb, though – so it’s not like I can take it as carry-on.
My best-kept travel secret is…
Take your own baked goods – even some of the best hotels in the world don’t have in-room cookies.
When I’m in the mood for some retail therapy on my travels, I visit…
I live in an all-female household. If they want to go shopping I am told where we are going. I have no choice.
When I’m in the mood to paint the town red, I hit…
You have no idea how little that happens these days – but still always Miami.
My favourite travel pastime is…
Apart from obviously spending time with family, I can honestly say it’s work. Shooting movies in New York, London, wherever, is by far one of the most exciting things you can do.
