Where is home?
London – and, no matter how much I travel, it always will be.
Where have you felt happiest?
I feel at my happiest now – these last few years I’ve never travelled so much in my life. Maybe it’s the travel, maybe it’s job satisfaction, maybe it’s being at an age where I am comfortable with myself, but I am happy wherever I am in the world.
Name a place that most lived up to the hype prior to visiting?
Tokyo, but I would say Japan in general. The food, the culture, the people… I wanted to love it and I did.
Which is your favourite city and why?
Other than London, New York; I’ve been a bunch of times but I still do touristy stuff like ride my bike through Central Park.
Describe your favourite view
Again, New York. I was doing a magazine shoot and they put me up in this amazing suite at The Plaza. It had a huge terrace with the most stunning views of the New York skyline.
When we shot The Force Awakens in Abu Dhabi we stayed at Qasr Al Sarab in the middle of the desert. Travel is one of the things that I love most about my job. If it wasn’t for Star Wars, I probably wouldn’t have known that hotel existed, but it was amazing.
Best thing you’ve learnt on a trip?
There is still nowhere like home. Maybe it’s because I travel so much now – but I so appreciate being at home and drinking tea with the family and getting “mum hugs”.
I always pack…
Books – travel is the perfect excuse to catch up on reading.
My best-kept travel secret is…
Eat where the locals eat!
What’s your favourite shopping city?
I won’t ever shop for hours at a time – but, in terms of retail therapy, it doesn’t get much better than New York or London.
When I’m in the mood to paint the town red, I hit…
It’s not something I do often – but I love Ireland. Not only is it a stunning country, they are great people who know how to have fun. And Dublin has an incredible live music scene.
My favourite travel pastime is…
I like to throw myself into the culture of wherever I am. Whether that be food or history or learning about the people – I want to come back from the place I have been knowing more about it than when I arrived, for sure.
