Where is home?
Cleveland, Ohio. It’s a city I am so passionate about and that’s why I have so much going on there. I have lived in Miami as well – and now I have this exciting new chapter of my life living and playing in Los Angeles [for the LA Lakers].
Earliest travel memory?
We were poor, so travelling was not something we did much of! But as soon as the college offers came in I knew we were not going to be poor for long – and it makes all the travel we can do today that much sweeter.
Name a place that most lived up to the hype prior to visiting
New York – I love that city. There is so much diversity but Brooklyn is – and I am pretty sure will always be – my favourite borough.
Describe your favourite view
Last summer we were on a yacht in Positano on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Looking out across the beautiful water with my family next to me is something I am always going to remember.
What’s the best hotel you’ve ever stayed in?
It’s not exactly a hotel, but we stayed at a villa in Anguilla earlier last summer. It was beautiful – the villa was fully staffed and came with a private beach and private chef – and we could not have asked for more.
Best thing you’ve learnt on your travels?
Don’t forget home – never forget home. We have just opened a school back in Akron, Ohio for children who come from challenging situations or backgrounds, and opening it was one of the greatest moments of my life.
What’s the best dish you’ve eaten on your travels?
I always pack…
Music. I pretty much always make new playlists before a long trip.
When I’m in the mood to paint the town red, I hit…
I have spent a couple of birthdays in Vegas, and when it comes to partying, Vegas never lets you down. I usually party at The Wynn when I am in town.
My favourite travel pastime is…
Just enjoying some downtime with family. As long as there’s a beach we have a lot of fun. Mexico is always a good place for us to go together – it’s where we can just chill.
